With the help of this ceramic casting mold, you can easily create your own forms. You can perform various operations on the pieces that come out of the mold, such as engraving, incised decoration (sgraffito), adding handles, piercing holes (ajur), deformation (creating ridges, warping, cutting, etc.), stamping letters, and similar processes. Using a mold is a practical way to produce unique forms in a serial manner.
Eti Sanat ceramic casting molds are made entirely of plaster. Although it is possible to prepare molds with cardboard plaster upon request, it is not recommended. Molds made of cardboard plaster have a shorter lifespan, more errors, and are difficult to touch up after use.
Note: The internal dimensions of the mold are provided. The type of casting slip, the depth of the touch-up process, and the firing temperature can cause variations in size.
Instructions for use: Pour the appropriate consistency of liquid casting slip into the mold. When it reaches the desired thickness, empty the excess slip from the mold. Wait until the remaining slip inside the mold reaches the right consistency to separate from the mold. This duration may vary depending on the type of slip, weather conditions, and frequency of mold use. Use a touch-up knife to remove any excess slip from the mold's opening and then remove the piece from the mold by hand. After reaching the leather-hard stage, you can perform touch-ups, glazing, handle attachment, decoration, and other processes.
Maintenance of the mold: After use, clean the mold with a dry sponge. If possible, allow it to dry in the sun and open air. Rapid drying in an oven, on a stove, or by similar means will reduce the mold's lifespan and quality.
