EK504 Plaster Mold - Ceramic Casting Mold - Rim Glazed Cup Mold 8x6.5cm

This is a ceramic casting mold used for production with liquid casting slip.

Diameter: 8 cm (3.15")
Depth: 6.5 cm (2.56")

With the ceramic casting mold, you can easily create your own forms. You can perform various techniques on the casted pieces such as carving, sgraffito (incised decoration), adding handles, piercing (ajour), deformation (creating ribs, warping, cutting, etc.), letter stamping, and similar processes. Using molds is a practical way to produce unique forms in a serial manner.

Eti Sanat uses entirely mold plaster in their ceramic casting molds. While it is possible to prepare molds with gypsum plaster upon request, it is not recommended. Molds made of gypsum plaster have a shorter lifespan, more flaws, and are difficult to retouch after use.

Note: The interior dimensions of the mold are provided. Depending on the clay type, depth of retouching, and firing temperature, there may be variations in size.

Usage information: Fill the mold with the liquid casting slip of suitable consistency. When it reaches the desired thickness, empty the excess slip from the mold. The clay remaining inside the mold, which has taken the shape of the mold, should be left until it reaches the appropriate consistency for detachment (this time period may vary depending on the type of clay, weather conditions, and frequency of mold usage). Remove the excess clay on the rim of the mold using a trimming knife and take out the piece from the mold by hand. After reaching the leather-hard stage, various processes such as retouching, glazing, attaching handles, decorating, and more can be done.

Maintenance of the mold: After use, clean the mold with a dry sponge. If possible, let it dry in the sun and open air. Rapid drying in an oven, on a stove, or in a similar manner can reduce the mold's lifespan and quality.
