EK107 Mold for Rim Glazed Mini Bowl
It is a ceramic casting mold used for production with liquid casting slip. The pouring method can also be used with the appropriate consistency of vacuumed slip.
Model: Deep Plate
Diameter: 20 cm (7.87")
Height: 4.5 cm (1.77")
With the ceramic casting mold, you can easily create your own forms. You can perform various operations on the pieces that come out of the mold, such as carving, incised sgraffito, adding handles, piercing (ajour), deformation (creating ridges, warping, cutting, etc.), letter pressing, and similar processes. Using molds is a practical way to produce unique forms in a serial manner.
Eti Sanat ceramic casting molds are made entirely of casting plaster. Molds made with casting plaster have a much longer lifespan compared to those made with cardboard plaster. They also allow for faster casting removal, provide a smoother surface, and dry more quickly.
Note: The dimensions given are for the interior of the mold. It should be taken into consideration that the dimensions of the piece coming out of the mold may shrink during drying and firing. Please contact us for mold needs with intermediate measurements.
Usage Information: The mold is filled with liquid casting slip of appropriate consistency. When it reaches the desired thickness, the excess liquid slip in the mold is poured out. The clay remaining in the mold, which has taken the shape of the mold, is allowed to dry until it reaches the demolding consistency (this time period varies depending on the type of clay, weather conditions, and frequency of mold use). The excess clay on the rim of the mold is trimmed using a trimming tool, and the piece in the mold is removed by hand. After reaching the leather-hard stage, various operations such as refining, glazing, attaching handles, decorating, etc., can be performed.
Mold Maintenance: After use, the mold should be cleaned with a dry sponge. If possible, it should be dried in sunlight and open air. Rapid drying in an oven, on a stove, or similar methods can reduce the lifespan and quality of the mold.
