EK088 - Decorated Cup Plaster Mold 7.5x10cm
(Ceramic - Porcelain Casting Mold - Plaster Mold - Cup and Mug Molds)

It is a ceramic casting mold used for production with liquid casting slip.

Model: Decorated Cup
Height: 10 cm (3.94")
Mouth diameter: 7.5 cm (2.95")
Volume: 200 ml (Approximate volume of the biscuit fired with Eti ceramic casting slip at 1040°C. The volume may vary depending on the type of clay and firing temperature.)

With the ceramic casting mold, you can easily create your own forms. You can perform various techniques on the cast pieces such as carving, incised decoration, adding handles, piercing holes (ajour), deformation (creating ridges, indentations, cuts, etc.), letterpress, and similar processes. Using molds is a practical way to produce unique forms in a series.

Eti Sanat uses only plaster for the ceramic casting molds. Although it is possible to prepare molds with cardboard plaster upon request, it is not recommended. Molds made of cardboard plaster have a shorter lifespan, higher error rate, and are more difficult to touch up after use.

Note: The mold dimensions provided are internal measurements. Size variations can occur depending on factors such as clay type, depth of touch-up work, and firing temperature.

Usage information: Pour the appropriate consistency of liquid casting slip into the mold. Once it reaches the desired thickness, pour out the excess slip from the mold. The remaining slip inside the mold, which has taken the shape of the mold, is allowed to reach the desired consistency to separate from the mold (this time period can vary depending on the type of slip, environmental conditions, and frequency of mold use). Using a touch-up knife, remove any excess slip from the mold opening, and then manually remove the piece from the mold. After reaching the leather-hard stage, you can perform touch-ups, apply glaze, attach handles, decorate, and perform similar processes.

Maintenance of the mold: After use, clean the mold with a dry sponge. If possible, let it dry in the sun and open air. Rapid drying in an oven, on a stove, or similar methods can reduce the lifespan and quality of the mold.
